WP 6.1.1.: Master Plan for Irrigation in the Lower Pordenone Plain
The study area is situated in the Lower Pordenone Plain, (Bassa Pordenonese) and characterized by about 2000 irrigation wells. The goal of this project is in one hand to better understand the deep water circulation in this part of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and to the other hand to support the decision makers of “Consorzio di Bonifica Cellina-Meduna” to find the best solution in reorganizing the 2000 irrigation wells according to their economic use.

WP 6.1.2.: Irrigation water requirements based on crop water needs
The study area is situated in the Friulian Plain and characterized by intensive agricultural activities where irrigation plays an important rule to satisfy crop water needs. The goal of this project is on the one hand to better understand the crop water needs and crop nutrition requirements during the growing period under different climate conditions and on the other hand to optimize water resources for irrigation taking into account their quantity and quality.

WP 6.1.3.: Microbial risk assessment and quality control of wastewater and activated sludge – a basis for foodborne illness prevention
The microbial contamination in any form of surface water presents a relatively high risk to human health. The presence of large numbers of enteric viruses in wastewaters has resulted in concern regarding their significance and consequence for humans. The aim of the project is to ascertain the applicability of wastewater and disposed sludge of Purification Plants for agricultural use regarding microbiological quality.
