The following actions are performed by the Agricultural Research Council in cooperation with universities, with the CNR, with ENEA and with other agricultural organizations and experimental stations:

• Support and perform research activities of national and international relevance in order to favor a sustainable development and a multifunctional role of rural and coastal areas, with particular attention to quality and to the integration of marginal and disadvantaged areas.
• Develops new technological and organizational innovations that meet the specific socioeconomic and ecological needs of local communities so as to improve the competitive capacities of the territorial systems.
• Offer advice, upon request, to Ministries, the EU, to the International Organizations, to Regional and Provincial Administrations, Self-Governing Provinces, based on specific agreements.
• Provide scientific and technological assistance, upon request, to companies that operate in agricultural-related fields, corresponding to the competence areas of the CRA.
• Perform activities of certification, testing and accreditation in the agricultural sector.
• Favor the integration of knowledge among different research areas and stimulate synergies between European, National Regional and local research initiatives aiming at a timely and efficient diffusion of results.
• Promote debates on scientific subjects of national interest. 
• Promote and develop relations with Institutions, scientific and technological societies and organizations, labor and trade unions, NGO’s and the tertiary sector.
• Provide teaching and doctoral courses and training for post-graduate students in cooperation with Universities, and also advanced education in research in non-university studies.

The Agricultural Research Council endorses and hosts permanent meeting and debates with Regions, Agricultural Producer Associations, Agroindustrial Divisions and Consumer Associations to the end of encouraging the following points:

• Transmission of the obtained research results, to companies and firms.
• Valorization, pre-competitive development and the transfer of research results conducted by their own scientific network, by the CNR, by other National Research Organizations and with industrial research units.
• Sharing of knowledge deriving from institutional research activity, and consumer’s right to be informed with reference to food safety and environmental sustainable production processes.

To the end of pursuing its goals and accomplishing its general activities, the Agricultural Research Council offers its expertise to privates, stipulates agreements and conventions, as well as establishes and participates in consortiums, foundations or societies, in partnership with private and public, Italian or Foreign parts.
